📍 Location Sharing
Why can't my circle members see my location?
Check the following:
- Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services on your iPhone and make sure CircleMap is set to "Always" or "While Using the App."
- In CircleMap, go to Circles > select your circle > Privacy Settings and make sure location sharing is toggled on.
- If you set a sharing schedule, verify the current time falls within your schedule.
- Make sure you have an active internet connection.
How do I enable background location updates?
Go to iPhone Settings > CircleMap > Location and select "Always". Then in the CircleMap app, go to Profile and enable Background Location Sharing. This allows your circle members to see your location even when the app is closed.
How does approximate location mode work?
When enabled per-circle in Privacy Settings, your exact GPS coordinates are blurred to a ~1 km radius before being shared. Circle members see your general area but not your precise position. Useful for casual sharing where exact location isn't needed.
Does CircleMap drain my battery?
CircleMap uses motion-aware tracking that automatically adjusts GPS accuracy based on your activity. When you're stationary, updates are infrequent (every 5 minutes). When driving, updates are more frequent (every 30 seconds). This approach minimizes battery impact while keeping your location current.
👥 Circles & Members
How do I invite someone to my circle?
Go to Circles > select your circle > Invite by Phone. Enter their phone number and tap Send. They'll receive a notification to accept or decline. Invitations expire after 48 hours.
Can someone add me to a circle without my permission?
No. All circle membership requires explicit acceptance. You must tap "Accept" on an invitation before you join any circle. You can decline any invitation.
How do I leave a circle?
Go to Circles > select the circle > Leave Circle. Your location will immediately stop being shared with that circle. If you're the owner, you must transfer ownership before leaving.
📞 Voice Calls
How do I call a circle member?
Go to Circles > select a circle. You'll see a phone icon next to each member. Tap it to start a voice call. Both users must have the app open for the call to connect.
Why can't I connect to a voice call?
Voice calls require both parties to have the CircleMap app open and an active internet connection. If the other person's app is closed or in the background, the call cannot connect. Make sure you've granted microphone permission to CircleMap in iPhone Settings.
🚨 Emergency SOS
How does Emergency SOS work?
Go to Profile > Emergency SOS. First, add at least one emergency contact. When you trigger SOS, a 5-second countdown begins (you can cancel). After the countdown, your precise location is sent via SMS to your emergency contacts and as a push notification to all your circle members.
Is CircleMap SOS a replacement for 911?
No. CircleMap SOS notifies your personal contacts only. In a life-threatening emergency, always call your local emergency number (911 in the US) first. CircleMap SOS is a supplementary safety feature.
⭐ Subscriptions
What does CircleMap Pro include?
Pro unlocks: unlimited circles, unlimited members per circle, 30-day location history, unlimited safe zones (geofences), unlimited share links, and driving reports with trip analytics.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open iPhone Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > CircleMap Pro > Cancel Subscription. Your Pro features remain active until the end of the current billing period. CircleMap does not process payments directly — all billing is handled by Apple.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
In CircleMap, go to Profile > Subscription > Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
🛡 Privacy & Account
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile > Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, location history, messages, circles, and all associated data from our servers. This action cannot be undone.
Who can see my location?
Only members of circles you have joined can see your location, and only when you have sharing enabled for that circle. You can check and change sharing settings per-circle in Circles > select circle > Privacy Settings. You can also see who viewed your location in the Activity Feed.
Does CircleMap sell my data?
No. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not show ads. Your data is used solely to provide CircleMap's features. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
